Happy National Quilting Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day AND National Quilting Day!!!

According to www.holidayinsights.com National Quilting Day is a day to recognize and appreciate the quiltmakers, the skill and the warm and the results. If you are a quiltmaker, spend a minute to recognize and appreciate that you have truely been blessed with a special skill. If you are not a quiltmaker, wrap yourself into a quilt and enjoy the warmth.

So when you're out tonight having a Guiness or some sort of green beer, remind everyone that you are a quilter and it's your day too! :)

Books

Zakka Style
Rashida Coleman-Hale has gathered talented designers from around the world to bring you 24 delightful Zakka projects. Zakka, a Japanese term meaning “many things,” is all about all the little things that improve your home and appearance. Create a one-of-a-kind picture frame, a stylish bread bag, a whimsical bookmark, a chic tote, and so much more. You’ll love these bright, imaginative designs—make them for yourself and everyone you know!

Modern Quilting Designs
No matter if you are a longarm quilter or if you quilt on a domestic sewing machine this new book which features over 90 quilting designs would be a welcome addition to your library.  I would call this book a “design library” book.  It does not give advice on how to do longarm quilting  or domestic machine quilting, but rather it provides a wealth of line drawn designs.

Transparency Quilts
Master the illusion of transparency with these ten quilt projects and easy-to-follow guide from popular quilting duo Ringle and Kerr. Transparency Quilts teaches you how to use traditional piecing techniques to create layered translucent effects. By learning how to distinguish and balance the subtleties of colour in your fabrics, you can achieve remarkable results. Youżll also discover how the visual relationships between different colours make all the difference in your quilts.

New English Paper Piecing
You’ll love these ten soft and pretty designs made with traditional hexagons, as well as squares, circles, pentagons, and other shapes. Learn the fundamentals of English paper piecing and needleturned appliqué to add to your repertoire of quiltmaking skills. Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced quilter, Sue’s teaching style will help you rediscover the joy of handwork.

Modern Mix
A printed fabric is eye-catching, but when it's paired with the right solid, the result can be truly brilliant. This how-to book features 16 projects with a contemporary style that exemplify the dynamic partnership of large-scale prints and bright solids. With pages of fabulous ideas, all the information needed on integrating fabrics and even a chapter on quilt making basics, The Modern Mix is a must-have addition to your sewing library.
